French winger Sylvain Marveaux is believed to be edging closer towards agreeing to join Liverpool in the summer.
The 24-year-old winger is currently under contract with Ligue 1 side Rennes, though that deal ends in June and Marveaux is sidelined with injury at present.
The Frenchman is not due to recover in time to feature for Rennes before the end of the season and could well have played his last game for the Ligue 1 club.
Liverpool’s director of football strategy Damien Comolli is thought to think Marveaux will fit the bill for the Reds and offer an effective attacking outlet on the flanks. Indeed, it was even suggested that Marveaux could be snapped up in January, although no move materialised.
Marveaux is a Rennes youth product and made his debut for the club in 2006.
