Barcelona striker David Villa has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from the Camp Nou by declaring his intention to end his career with the Blaugrana.

Villa looked off colour during parts of the second half of the Spanish league season in 2010/11, but bounced back with some strong performances as the campaign tailed off.

There has though been speculation that Barcelona were thinking of cashing in on Villa, clearing the decks for the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Udinese and Giuseppe Rossi from Villarreal. But Villa does not want to leave and dismissed any transfer talk.

"All that’s been said hasn’t bothered me because it isn’t rumours or speculation, it’s a lie", said the striker.

"I would like to have the chance to retire at Barca."

What does seem clear nonetheless is that Villa will have a battle on his hands to start next season, especially with the impending arrival of Alexis Sanchez.
