Inter have confirmed Gian Piero Gasperini as the club’s new coach.

The former Genoa boss has signed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri and has instantly been welcomed by president Massimo Moratti.

Gasperini began last season in charge of Genoa, but following a poor start to the campaign, was swiftly dismissed as coach. He will hope for better luck in charge of a club that will demand no less than the Serie A title itself.

And Moratti has given his backing to the 53-year-old, expressing his "full satisfaction with the choice" and wishing Gasperini "the success that brought Inter the title of world champions."

Inter finished second in Serie A last season, losing their grip on the title to bitter rivals AC Milan. Gasperini will be expected to reverse those positions.
