Reports from Spain suggest that Jose Mourinho has asked club president Florentino Perez to make an effort to sign Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

De Rossi has been a target of Mourinho’s in the past, but a move has failed to materialise. And with the Giallorossi now boosted by the millions of new owner Thomas DiBendetto and under the management of Luis Enrique, Real Madrid’s chances of signing the midfielder appear, on the face of it, slim.

But Mourinho looks determined to try again for the 27-year-old, a move that would surely spell the end of Lassana Diarra’s spell at the Bernabeu.

Italy international De Rossi is considered an icon by the Giallorossi faithful, who would be disappointed were they to lose the 27-year-old.

There does though remain the possibility that De Rossi would see the chance to move to Real Madrid as one he simply cannot let pass by, and push for the switch to become a reality.
