Karim Benzema has revealed that he has never considered leaving Real Madrid.

The French striker has often endured a difficult time at the Bernabeu since landing from Lyon in 2009 and also took time to win the trust of coach Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese’s appointment last summer.

But despite being regularly linked with a move away from Los Blancos, with a series of sides making discreet enquiries, Benzema has not thought about quitting, revealing that he knew when he chose to head to Real Madrid that making the grade would be tough.

"I’ve never thought of leaving Madrid, no, never. In no way whatsoever", Benzema told Spanish daily AS.

"I’ve never looked back during difficult times. When I chose Real, I knew I had to suffer to win a starting spot, it’s a decision that I would take again."

And Benzema admitted that last season was often challenging, but in the end felt he bounced back with good performances towards the end of the campaign.

"It was tough at the beginning because I was not very well and I was a little overweight.

"Then, during the season, the situation improved and I had a great second half."
