Despite the player’s agent recently confirming a stay at Inter looked likely, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is ready to rekindle his interest in Maicon.

Mourinho, who tried unsuccessfully to take the Brazilian to the Bernabeu last summer, is keen to explore the possibility of completing the transfer in the current window and looks set to sound out his old employers at Inter.

Maicon would surely welcome the opportunity to link up once again with the Portuguese, though it is unclear whether he would agitate for a move.

Sources in Italy suggest that Inter will only consider parting with Maicon for between €18M and €20M.

Such a price for a 29-year-old looks steep for Real Madrid, with Mourinho also putting the emphasis on youth and building a side that will only reach its peak in the next few years.

The Portuguese has remained a fan of the full back though, well understanding that he is the only right back in the game capable of matching Barcelona’s Dani Alves.
