Bayern Munich look to be closing on Chelsea defender Alex.

The Bavarians want to strengthen their defence over the summer and have been linked with a number of options, including Manchester City’s Jerome Boateng and Inter man Lucio.

However, City are standing firm in their demand for at least €20M for Boateng – too high for the Bundesliga giants – and extracting Lucio from Inter is not a simple task; the Brazilian wants a new two-year contract at the San Siro, but Inter wish to only add one year at a time.

And while the Germans’ interest in the Brazilian was well known, French daily L’Equipe report that Bayern are now growing closer to sealing the signature of Alex, although Chelsea want €10M for the 29-year-old.

Alex is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2013, but could well be attracted to the prospect of regular first team football at the Allianz Arena.
