Benfica are ready to splash some of the €30M received from the sale of Fabio Coentrao to Real Madrid on Standard Liege midfielder Axel Witsel.
Witsel is now very affordable for the Portuguese giants after an injection of cash from selling Coentrao and Benfica have sounded Standard out according to local paper La Derniere Heure.
The Belgians would sell Witsel for €8M, an amount Benfica look willing to meet.
The 22-year-old has been sparkling for the Belgian side since being handed his debut in 2006, and is set on a path of consistent improvement.
A tough-tackling defensive midfielder, Witsel has 19 senior international caps for Belgium.
