Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has warned the club’s English Premier League rivals that Mexican striker Javier Hernandez can improve next season.

Hernandez was simply sensational in his first season in English football, helping United to lift the 2010/11 Premier League title and also to a Champions League final, where they only fell to Barcelona.

And Ferguson believes that the young Mexican can go on and improve from the 20 goals he scored in his debut season, with the United manager having watched Hernandez in the 2011 Gold Cup and been impressed.

"He’s as good a player as I’ve ever dealt with in the penalty box, in terms of movement and decision making", said Ferguson.

"He’s brilliant with those qualities. He might even improve on that next season, but where he does need to improve is in the technical bit. He’s doing that all the time though.

"When I watched him play for Mexico at the Gold Cup, the change in him was fantastic in terms of how he was linking play, spinning his defender.

"One of the goals he scored, the centre back went to check him, but Chicharito stepped away from him, went round the back and he was in – brilliant."
