Wolfsburg are bidding to splash the cash before the summer transfer window closes by launching a bid for Freiburg striker Papiss Cisse.

The Wolves were interested in the Senegal international back in January, but Freiburg determined to keep hold of the 26-year-old, fearing they would not be able to adequately replace him mid-season.

And now too Freiburg have concerns over selling the forward so close to the end of the summer window.

But Wolfsburg hope that a bid of €12M will change their mind.

Wolves boss Felix Magath rates Cisse highly and was impressed with the 26-year-old’s work last season.

Cisse would likely be keen on a switch to the Volkswagen Arena, with Magath planning to return the club to the position of title challengers.
