Reports from Turkey suggest that winger Arda Turan is close to leaving Galatasaray for Atletico Madrid.

Turkish news channel NTV have confirmed that Atletico and Galatasaray have found an agreement which would see Turan head to the Spanish capital for a fee of €12M.

The 24-year-old has been offered a five-year deal at the Vicente Calderon worth €2.5M per season. This would rise by €500,000 if Atletico are involved in the Europa League and by €1M if the club play Champions League football.

Atletico have money to spend following the sale of Sergio Aguero to Manchester City this summer and are keen to bring in reinforcements ahead of the new La Liga season.

To this end Brazilian midfielder Diego also looks close to agreeing a move to the Spanish side, having been ordered to find a new club by Wolfsburg.

But it is the arrival of Turan which will most delight Atletico fans given how highly the Turkish star is rated.

The winger is expected in Madrid after his country’s friendly against Estonia today.
