Serie A side Udinese are targeting Colombian international midfielder Carlos Sanchez.

The 25-year-old has just one year remaining on his present deal with French Ligue 1 side Valenciennes and the club should look to cash in on the enforcer rather than lose him without a fee next summer.

Greek giants Olympiacos have been the most interested party in the chase for Sanchez, but the Super League champions were not willing to meet Valenciennes’ €3M asking price.

Now Udinese could launch a swoop and hand the French side the fee they desire.

Sanchez excelled as a defensive midfielder for Colombia in the recent Copa America and this piqued the interest of Udinese.

The Champions League contenders lost tough-tackling midfielder Gokhan Inler to Napoli this summer and have yet to truly replace the Swiss international.

But Sanchez could be the buy to do just that.
