Spanish coach Jose Antonio Camacho has been appointed as the new boss of China.

The 56-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Chinese and will attempt to steer the country to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Camacho was in charge of the Spanish national team between 1998 and 2002, leading La Roja to the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.

Six months ago Camacho was sacked as coach of Spanish side Osasuna.

Tempting the former Real Madrid coach to China is quite a coup for the Chinese, but he will be expected to produce results befitting his reputation.
