Cesc Fabregas has officially put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Barcelona, transferring from English giants Arsenal.

The Spanish midfielder will cost the European Champions a total package worth €35M; the player himself has contributed towards the deal by foregoing money he would have been due for not completing his contract with the Gunners.

"It’s different now to when I left here to go to Arsenal", said Fabregas. "I arrived at 16, made my debut very quickly. At 18 I played in a Champions League final, and then on to the European Championship and World Cup, it was unthinkable."

And Fabregas is relishing the challenge in front of him in adding to the quality at the Camp Nou.

"Now here I know it’s a great challenge and I have much to learn from the coach and this team.

"Some [of the players] I have known since the age of 13, others since 18 in the national squad. I will try to adapt quickly.

"Physically I’m fine, ready for anything, but playing against Real Madrid is something that depends on the coach."
