Ajax are the latest club to show an interest in goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand.

The German shot-stopper is available on a free transfer after leaving Sporting Lisbon at the end of last season.

Hildebrand spent some time with Manchester City on their summer tour of the United States, but no permanent contract offer from Roberto Mancini’s side arrived.

Ajax are still on the lookout for another keeper following the sale of Maarten Stekelenberg to Roma earlier this month and to this end have sounded out Hildebrand’s agent over the 32-year-old.

"We have had contact with Ajax, Roda JC and Heerenveen", Hildebrand’s agent Jorg Neblung told Voetbal International.

"But there are no negotiations and it’s not about concrete interest.

"There is increasing interest from teams in southern Europe and then from England and then the Netherlands."
