Valencia are pondering a late move for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic according to reports from Spain.

Ivanovic has emerged as a late transfer target for Los Che, who are still tinkering with their squad as the clock ticks down to the close of the summer window.

Cadena Ser report that the Serbian is under consideration at the Mestalla, though the recent arrival of fellow defender Victor Ruiz from Napoli appears to have given the Spanish side pause over whether to bid for Ivanovic or not.

The 27-year-old is versatile and able to operate in a variety of defensive positions, from right back to centre back and defensive midfield.

Ivanovic moved to Chelsea in 2008 for a fee of €13M and has since gone to clock up well over 100 appearances at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Valencia’s interest however, it would be surprising if Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas allowed the Serbia star to leave with so little time to line up a replacement.
