Arsene Wenger has admitted he wishes that the season was not about to end as he feels his Arsenal side are back in their stride.

Wenger watched on as the Gunners took Newcastle apart at the Emirates Stadium this evening, running out comfortable 3-0 winners with goals from Laurent Koscienly, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud.

Arsenal now need one more win from their final two games to secure fourth place and Champions League football. The Gunners boast 73 points from 36 games, seven behind league leaders Liverpool.

And Wenger, whose side had been in contention for the Premier League title before falling away when a spate of injuries struck, wishes the season would not end.

"We would love for the season to be longer", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"We were top of the league but lost too many players at the crucial point of the season.

"We are four points ahead of Everton and we want to take maximum points from now until the end of the season."

Wenger's men also have an FA Cup final to look forward to, with Hull City lying in wait at Wembley next month.
