Blackburn Rovers are to beat Sheffield Wednesday to the signature of Orlando City star Duncan McGuire, according to the NationalWorld.

McGuire is a player that Sheffield Wednesday have been focused on trying to sign as they look to back boss Danny Rohl.

The Owls though are set for disappointment and to make the pill even harder to swallow, McGuire is heading for the Championship this month.

The Orlando City star is poised to complete a move to Blackburn Rovers for a fee of £2.3m.

It is claimed that Blackburn’s payment plan for McGuire is more favourable for Orlando City compared to the one put on the table by Sheffield Wednesday.

Should the move continue to go smoothly, McGuire will head to England this evening to complete the switch to Ewood Park.

The 22-year-old forward will be looking to hit the ground running quickly in the Championship if he does join Blackburn.

McGuire has been capped by the United States at international level and is a highly rated attacking talent.
