French giants Lyon have tabled a bid to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala, according to The Athletic.

Mangala was previously attracting interest from Napoli earlier this month but that trail has gone cold.

It emerged on Monday evening that Lyon are now working on a deal to sign the Forest midfielder before Thursday’s deadline.

The French giants have moved rapidly towards trying to secure a deal to take the midfielder to Lyon in the coming days.

It has been claimed that Nottingham Forest have been offered a deal worth £30m from Lyon for the signature of Mangala.

Lyon have been struggling this season and are pushing to sign Mangala to revive their fortunes in the latter half of the campaign.

Nottingham Forest have an opportunity to almost treble the £10.5m they paid to VfB Stuttgart 18 months ago for the midfielder.

However, it remains to be seen whether Forest agree to sell a player of his quality late in the transfer window.

Lyon are working under the impression that Nottingham Forest are under financial pressure to sell players in the ongoing window.
