Hibernian forward Jair Tavares has hailed Rangers star John Lundstram as the pendulum of the Gers midfield due to his work ethic and ability to control the rhythm of his team, indicating Benfica must watch him.

 

The 30-year-old is a key part of Philippe Clement’s midfield and this season and he has started all seven Europa League games for Rangers

 

Rangers are set to lock horns with Benfica on Thursday at Ibrox and Clement will be hoping that Lundstram can continue his good form against the Portuguese giants.

 

 

 

Tavares, who has experience of playing against Lundstram, identified the 30-year-old as a threat for Benfica.

 

He pointed out that Lundstram is a physically strong midfielder with ability to control the Rangers rhythm and hailed him as a pendulum of Clement’s side’s midfield.

 

 

Tavares also warned Benfica of the threat possessed by Rangers captain James Tavernier and stressed that the defender is an extremely attacking minded player.

 

When asked about Rangers’ threat that Benfica should be aware of, Tavares told Portuguese daily A Bola: “The captain, James Tavernier.

 

 

“He’s experienced, physically strong and extremely attacking.

 

“He’s excellent at set-pieces.

 

“Then there’s John Lundstram, the pendulum of the midfield.

 

“He’s also very strong physically and controls all the team’s rhythm.”

 

Lundstram this season has featured 43 games in all competitions for Rangers and the midfielder has two goals and six assists under his belt.
