Swansea City are close to reaching a settlement with Southampton manager Russell Martin over alleged breach of contract, according to Wales Online.

Martin was in charge of the Swans between 2021 and 2023, before he left the club and ultimately took over at Southampton last summer.

He led Saints to promotion through the playoffs in the Championship in the recent season and Premier League football is back on the menu at St Mary’s.

It emerged earlier this year that Swansea were suing Martin for alleged breach of contract.

Martin also took some staff members from Swansea to Southampton.

Now there could be a resolution to the case as Swansea are close to a settlement.

The settlement would include a resolution to the dispute which has been ongoing about the compensation amount due.

An issue was that Martin’s contract contained differing clauses dependent upon whether the club he went to were a Premier League side or not.

Southampton had just been relegated, but Swansea felt they were still a top flight club when they made the move for Martin.
