AC Milan defender Thiago Silva has admitted having contact with Barcelona over a switch to the Camp Nou.

The Brazilian stopper was a key figure in the Rossoneri’s capturing of last season’s Serie A title and has seen his reputation continue to blossom alongside his ability at the Italian giants. And the progress that Thiago Silva has made has not gone unnoticed.

Thus it comes as little surprise to hear that Barcelona, who want to add a top quality centre back to their ranks this summer, have shown an interest in the 26-year-old.

"I have spoken with Barca and it is a legal issue to talk", explained Thiago Silva.

"Now they have to talk to Milan because I recently renewed until the end of 2016."

Increasingly compared with the legendary Franco Baresi, the Rossoneri will not quickly sell their Brazilian defender. And with Barcelona holding such a limited summer transfer budget, the chances of Thiago Silva ending up at the Camp Nou by the end of the summer look slim.
