Former Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini has extended his contract with La Liga side Malaga.

Pellegrini helped to steer the club to safety last season after finding a side embroiled in a relegation scrap upon his arrival half way through the Spanish season.

The Chilean was backed in the transfer market and made several eye-catching moves in the January window, moves he has followed up this summer with the arrival of an array of stars.

And Pellegrini has cemented his commitment to Malaga by agreeing to extend his deal by two years. The coach’s new contract runs until 2015.

Malaga have supported Pellegrini’s plans, already bringing in the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jeremy Toulalan and Joaquin, and are targeting qualification for Europe in the 2011/12 campaign.
