Lyon have rejected the opportunity to sign Manchester City’s out-of-favour striker Jo.

The Citizens are desperate to move the Brazilian striker on after a series of loan spells, with Everton (twice) and Galatasaray, saw a permanent switch fail to materialise.

And thus, as reported by Le Progres, City contacted Ligue 1 giants Lyon to ascertain whether the French side might be interested in taking the 24-year-old to the Stade Gerland.

The English side received a swift ‘no’, with Les Gones coach Remi Garde not thinking of adding another striker before the start of the 2011/12 Ligue 1 season.

For Jo the future at Eastlands looks bleak, with Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli all preferred as attacking options by boss Roberto Mancini.

With a surfeit number of strikers on the books, City remain keen to move a number of out-of-favour hitmen on, although their substantial wage packets often scuppers interest from potential buyers.
