Gabriel Milito has snubbed interest from Roma and Real Zaragoza to head back to his homeland with Independiente.

The Argentine defender was surplus to requirements at Barcelona and terminated his contract with the European Champions by mutual agreement.

Now the 30-year-old will hope to relaunch his career back in Argentina.

At the Camp Nou, despite a promising first year, Milito never managed to make the breakthrough to the club’s first team.

Hampered by injuries and with his path to the first team blocked, the promising Argentine was soon forced to concede that his Barcelona adventure was doomed to failure.

Back home Milito will enjoy more minutes on the pitch and stands a good chance of rediscovering his previous form.
