Mauro Zarate’s brother and agent, Sergio Zarate, is due in Rome this week for talks with Lazio over the striker’s future.

It has been suggested that Zarate could leave the Serie A club for the right price, but his situation is set to become much clearer after Thursday.

Lazio are due to play in the Europa League against Rabotnicki on Thursday and should Zarate play then he would find himself cup-tied in that competition and only eligible to take part in the Champions League after Christmas.

Such a fact would be sure to rule out a move for the Argentine this summer.

And so Sergio Zarate is keen to know Lazio’s stance on his brother as he seeks to determine whether an exit is possible and practical.

The Rome side are thought to have set Zarate’s asking price at €20M.

Zarate joined Lazio in 2008 and has won the 2008/09 Coppa Italia and 2009 Supercoppa Italiana at the club.
