Leeds want to take De Ketelaere to Elland Road, but the player has a clear preference for AC Milan and is waiting for Club Brugge to agree a deal with the Italians.

Jesse Marsch’s Whites are continuing to monitor the situation in the hope they can sign De Ketelaere and AC Milan have yet to reach an agreement for him.

They held direct talks with Club Brugge on Wednesday, but since then, according to Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad, the Belgians have yet to hear from AC Milan again.

It is suggested there is a degree of poker going on in the transfer saga, but Club Brugge are sticking to their €35m asking price.

AC Milan have yet to go above €31m, while it is suggested Leeds would pay up to €40m.

The Whites are big admirers of De Ketelaere, but the jury is out on whether they will be able to snap him up this summer.

He shone for Club Brugge over the course of last season and signing him would be a coup for AC Milan.
