Haaland has made a blistering start to life at Manchester City and moved on to 15 league goals for the season on Saturday when he struck against Southampton.

He is scoring at a rate of 1.67 goals per game in the Premier League, putting him on course to net over 50 times in the league this term.

Heung-Min Son and Mohamed Salah shared the Golden Boot last term with 23 goals each, while Kane won it the previous season, also with 23 goals.

Many feel that Haaland already cannot be stopped in the chase to finish as the league’s top scorer, but Kane is not waiving the white flag.

The Tottenham star insists it is still early in the season and vowed to focus on his own game.

“No [I’ve not given up catching him], look there’s a long way to go and a lot of games to play”, Kane said to Viaplay Fotboll.

“I always concentrate on myself. I don’t think about too many other people.

“We’ve got some great players in the Premier League, fantastic strikers.

“For me, it’s just about doing what I can for my team.”

Manchester City are claimed to be paying Haaland a weekly salary of close to £900,000, meaning that his yearly salary is £43.2m.
