Birmingham City are set to meet former Stoke City boss Alex Neil next week to interview him for their vacant managerial position, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Blues have been relegated to League One after their disastrous campaign which experienced a host of managerial changes.

Tony Mowbray has left Birmingham City’s managerial position due to health issues and the St. Andrews outfit are in search of a new manager.

Liam Rosenior, who was on Birmingham City’s shortlist, is not interested in taking up the role.

Former Stoke City boss Neil is also on Blues’ shortlist of candidates and it has been claimed that the club will interview him next week.

Neil previously helped Sunderland achieve promotion to the Championship 2021/22 season before joining Stoke City.

The Potters sacked Neil in December after a poor first half of the season which left them struggling in the Championship.

Stoke survived in the Championship and finished six points better off than Birmingham.

Birmingham are also interested in former Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom, who is in the running for the Plymouth Argyle job.
