Departing Crystal Palace forward John-Kymani Gordon is set to join League Two side Colchester United on a free transfer, according to the South London Press.

The 21-year-old is a product of Crystal Palace’s youth academy but failed to make his presence felt at senior level.

He was sent out on three separate loan spells starting from January last year and his last stint was at AFC Wimbledon.

At Wimbledon, he featured in 18 League Two games but was unable to help Johnnie Jackson’s side clinch promotion to League One.

Back at Crystal Palace, he was one of the names that made the list of players to be released at the end of his contract on 30th June.

However, Gordon will not have to be without a club for long as a return to League Two is very much on the cards.

Colchester United, a club that narrowly avoided relegation last season, are set to take the player on board on a free transfer.

It now remains to be seen how quickly Danny Cowley’s side seal the deal for the young forward.
