Bayern Munich are closing on a swoop for Japanese forward Takashi Usami.
The 19-year-old is tipped for big things and has shone with Gamba Osaka, and Bayern have watched with interest as other European clubs, including their rivals Borussia Dortmund, have exploited the Japanese market; Dortmund’s signing of Shinji Kagawa last summer for just €350,000, was the best piece of business in 2010/11’s Bundesliga.
And the Allianz Arena giants will not be left behind.
Bayern are thought to have offered a figure in the region of €1.5M for Usami, although the Japanese believe that their young prospect is worth more.
"We still have no agreement, nothing has been reached", said Kana Koizumi, a spokesman for Japan’s J.League.
While Usami is ultimately expected to arrive at the Allianz Arena however, one man leaving is Miroslav Klose. The veteran Germany striker has been offered some €1.8M per year by Lazio to sign a two-year deal.
