Rangers hold an interest in signing Charlton Athletic striker Karlan Ahearne-Grant on a pre-contract agreement this month, according to the Herald.

Ahearne-Grant, who came up through the ranks at the Valley, has enjoyed a stellar League One campaign so far, after netting 13 goals and registering five assists from 26 games.

The 21-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, has subsequently attracted the interest from the Old Firm giants, who, it is claimed, could see him as a long-term successor for Alfredo Morelos.

Charlton have already rebuffed an approach from Championship side Brentford for the striker, but could still bag compensation if Ahearne-Grant joins another club on a pre-contract agreement.

Rangers fuelled the rumour mill by sending scouts to watch Ahearne-Grant during the Addicks’ 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town last Saturday.

Despite the interest from Rangers, it remains to be seen whether Ahearne-Grant opts to shift his allegiances, especially considering Lee Bowyer’s team are pushing hard for promotion from League One.
