Skipp, 22, came through the youth ranks at Spurs and he has so far made 56 Premier League appearances for the north London outfit.

He is a familiar face in England’s Under-21s and helped his country to win the European Under-21 Championship earlier this summer.

The midfielder put pen to paper on a contract extension last year, which tied him down to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until 2027.

With Postecoglou reshaping the Tottenham squad it remains to be seen which players he will lean heavily on, but the Australian is clear that Skipp, who came back ahead of when he needed to after his summer exertions, is in his thoughts.

“Yeah, he is part of my plans, absolutely”, Postecoglou replied in a press conference while asked about Skipp’s position at Spurs.

“We gave him the option [to have a break after the Under-21s tournament].

“It’s fair to say that with it being a tournament and him being successful, you want him to enjoy that because probably when he reflects later in his life it will be one of the highlights of his career.”

Tottenham missed out on qualifying for a European competition for the first time since the 2009/10 season and are now eyeing improving upon last term’s displays, something Skipp will want to be a key part of doing.

With some signature businesses in the ongoing transfer window, the Lilywhites are hoping to see themselves being more competitive again and it remains to be seen how well they will fare under the former Celtic manager’s guidance.
