West Ham United are tipped to soon restart talks with Ben Johnson over a new contract, amid the defender being targeted by Leeds United, according to the Athletic.

Johnson is out of contract at the London Stadium in the summer and he has turned down two new deal offers from the Hammers.

Amid the defender’s contractual situation, Championship side Leeds are hunting Johnson as they bid to boost Daniel Farke’s backline options.

Farke has signed off on both Djed Spence and Luke Ayling going this month, and is keen for the club to give him another defender.

Whether that defender will be Johnson is unclear as West Ham appear to be focused on keeping him.

The Hammers are tipped to be planning to start negotiations on a new contract again in the coming weeks.

Johnson wants guarantees over playing time at West Ham if he is to put pen to paper to a fresh deal.

He has only made eight appearances this season under David Moyes and is disappointed to have been handed so few opportunities at the London Stadium.
