Wigan Athletic boss Shaun Maloney has praised Nottingham Forest loan star Dale Taylor for his high work rate and believes that he deserved his goals on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old Nottingham Forest starlet impressed last season on loan with Wycombe Wanderers by scoring nine times in all competitions.

This summer, the Tricky Trees approved Taylor joining Wigan on loan and on Tuesday against Peterborough, he netted twice while laying on an assist to help his team secure three points.

Maloney admitted that Taylor scored two brilliant goals and added that the Nottingham Forest loanee’s performance pleased him.

The Wigan boss revealed that Taylor has a high work  rate and thinks that the young centre forward showcased a very high level performance against Peterborough.

When asked about Taylor’s performance, Maloney told Latics TV: “Yes, two brilliant goals. I love the second, Matt Smith; he has that vision [to give that assist].

“Really pleased with Dale. His work rate is really high; it is the same as Hugill and Stones. I am desperate to get Stones on the pitch.

“Dale, his all-round performance today was on an extremely high level, so he deserves everything he gets tonight.”

Taylor will be keen on plying his trade under the Wigan boss regularly this season as he looks to develop on his loan spell away from the City Ground.
