FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer may leave the Eredivisie outfit this summer in order to ply his trade in the English Premier League.

Everton were interested in the 23-year-old last winter, but the move collapsed due to concerns over one of Fer’s knees, and now it seems the Merseyside club have competition in the form of Norwich City and Newcastle United.

The former Feyenoord man took part in the recently concluded European Under-21 tournament with the Jong Oranje, further proving his fitness.

According to Dutch daily TC Tubantia, Fer is back from his holiday to talk about his future, and English clubs are keen.

Norwich City, who have signed another Dutchman in Ricky van Wolfswinkel, are a likely destination for Fer though it is still unknown which club the midfielder would like to play for.

Last season Fer had appeared in 38 games for Twente and scored 11 goals in the process.

He was signed from Feyenoord in 2011 and has a contract with his present club until 30th June 2014.
