There has been contact between Roberto Mancini's camp and Tottenham Hotspur, according to Sportitalia.

Mancini was sacked as Manchester City manager last summer, despite having led the Citizens to an FA Cup and Premier League during his time in charge.

He rebounded at Turkish giants Galatasaray this term, leading the Super Lig giants into the Round of 16 in the Champions League, qualifying at the expense of Juventus.

However, his future at the Turk Telekom Arena has been called into question, especially with Mancini believed to be keen for the club to do more in the transfer market.

If the situation does not change, he could exit Galatasaray at the end of the season.

The Italian favours a return to the Premier League and there has been initial contact with Tottenham Hotspur, where boss Tim Sherwood looks in severe danger of the axe.

Current Holland coach Louis van Gaal is also a strong contender to take over at White Hart Lane.
