Lyon coach Hubert Fournier has pointed to the amount Manchester City have paid to sign Wilfried Bony as proof that Alexandre Lacazette will not leave the Stade Gerland cheaply.

The French international has attracted interest from all corners with his performances at Lyon and has already scored 22 goals in all competitions this season.

English clubs, namely Arsenal and Liverpool, have been tracking his progress in France since last summer – but it is the entry of the English champions that has changed the dynamics of the transfer saga.

Manchester City, it has been claimed, are keen to start negotiating a deal with Lyon for Lacazette and are ready to pay big money to get their man.

The Citizens forked out around £30m to secure the signature of Bony from Swansea earlier this week and Fournier indicated that they might have to pay a similar sum to sign Lacazette.

“He is one of the best strikers in Europe and he does have a price”, the Lyon coach said in a press conference.

“Especially when you see the amount Manchester City paid to secure the services of Bony.”

Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas has been insisting that Lacazette is not for sale at any price.
