Liverpool have communicated to Juventus that they will not sell Emre Can during the January transfer window.

The 23-yar-old midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he is yet to commit to fresh terms with Liverpool, despite the club’s willingness to offer him a new deal.

Juventus have been interested in signing the player since the summer, but Jurgen Klopp refused to sell his countryman despite the player running down his contract with the club.

There was speculation that a deal in January could be on the cards as Liverpool look to realise a fee, but according to Italian broadcaster Rai Sport, a winter window move to Juventus for Can is off the table.

It has been claimed that Liverpool have told Juventus that they will not allow the player to leave in the middle of the season despite the German not agreeing to sign a new contract.

The Merseyside giants are still hopeful about convincing the player to sign a new deal, but Can has shown little indication thus far that he is prepared to sign a fresh contract to extend his stay at Anfield.

Juventus remain confident about getting a deal done to sign the midfielder on a free transfer next summer.
