The north London club are in the market for a defender and the club have identified Kounde as their priority target for the summer transfer window.

There were claims made that they even reached an agreement with Sevilla over a fee of €30m and Davinson Sanchez joining the Spanish club as part of the potential deal.

But convincing the Frenchman was always going to be tricky and it seems the north London club have stumbled at the final hurdle.

According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Kounde has rejected the approach for Tottenham and has no interest in joining the club.

Kounde is only interested in leaving Sevilla for a club in the Champions League and Tottenham are in the Europa Conference League.

The Frenchman also does not see any scope for development or growth at Tottenham and has rejected the offer to join them out of hand.

Kounde is looking to only leave Sevilla to make a move he is happy to make, and he does not want to join Tottenham.

Chelsea and Manchester United also hold an interest in Kounde.
