Veerman is heavily linked with leaving his current club Heerenveen in the ongoing window with the Dutch side having slapped on a €10m price tag on his head.

Scottish Premiership champions Rangers are keen on adding the midfielder to their ranks, while they are facing competition for his signature from Eredivisie side Feyenoord, who are claimed to be prepared to offer players in exchange in a potential deal

De Stadionclub technical director Arnesen has confirmed Veerman is just the type of player his team are missing and stressed new coach Arne Slot is a firm admirer.

Veerman is keen to move to De Kuip, but the Rangers target could have to look elsewhere with Arnesen admitting that financially signing the player could be tough.

“I think he [Veerman] is a great player and he’s the type that we lack in the team”, Arnesen told Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

“The coach is crazy about him too.

“I just think it will be a difficult story because we are financially limited.”

Rangers are yet to make any concrete moves for Veerman, and it remains to be seen whether they will launch a swoop for him in the coming weeks as Feyenoord face difficulty doing the deal.
