Ronaldo has rocked the boat at Old Trafford this summer after telling Manchester United that he wants to leave the club.
The Portuguese wants to play at a club that could win the Champions League and is not anticipating Manchester United competing for any major trophies next season.
Chelsea’s new owners have discussed signing Ronaldo with Jorge Mendes and he has also been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
Mendes was in Barcelona on Monday to meet the Blaugrana hierarchy and that sparked speculation of a sensational move to the Nou Camp for Ronaldo.
There were claims that Barcelona are indeed discussing the possibility of signing the 37-year-old forward this summer.
But it has been suggested that no such move is on the cards and Barcelona will not be signing him.
Ronaldo is not a target for Barcelona as the club are not in a position to afford his wages.
Manchester United do not want to sell him but are uncertain whether he will join the squad before they fly out for their pre-season tour on Friday.
