Ronaldo has told Manchester United that he wants to leave the club this summer for a team playing in the Champions League.

But Mendes’ efforts to find a new club for the veteran forward have come a cropper as several clubs have distanced themselves from the speculation of trying to sign him.

A move to Chelsea was mooted but Thomas Tuchel is not interested in taking Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge in the ongoing transfer window.

It has been claimed that Mendes has communicated to several clubs that Ronaldo is prepared to take a significant pay cut in order to secure a move.

The 37-year-old forward is ready to cut his wages by as much as 30 per cent in order to leave Old Trafford.

Bayern Munich have publicly distanced themselves from the prospect of signing Ronaldo despite persistent rumours.

He is now interested in a move to Atletico Madrid but the Spanish giants are not keen to sign him.

They insist that they are not in a financial position to sign Ronaldo and believe getting him would be problematic.

Manchester United are still maintaining that Ronaldo is not for sale with no club still anywhere close to signing him.
