Sheffield United’s 2-0 win over West Brom at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night confirmed them second spot and promotion to the Premier League.

The Blades have had a difficult season off the pitch given their financial troubles but they will be playing in the top flight again in the 2023/24 campaign.

Sheffield United made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup as well where they lost to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at Wembley last weekend.

Gray admitted that the long cup run could have easily become a distraction for a team such as Sheffield United.

He credited the Blades for not allowing it to become a hindrance and keeping their focus on getting promoted.

Gray said on beIN SPORTS: “He has done well, Paul Heckingbottom.

“They didn’t let the cup run get in the way of promotion, did they?

“Could easily have done that.”

Sheffield United have games against Preston, Huddersfield and Birmingham City left in the season.
