Charlton sacked Holden after four straight defeats in League One, which have left them in the bottom half of the table.
The Addicks ownership have given the responsibility to choose the successor to Holden to technical director Andy Scott.
It has been suggested that Charlton have already approached a host of managerial targets regarding the job.
And former Addicks boss Bowyer has been suggested to be in the race to become the next Charlton manager.
However, Charlton’s interest in Bowyer has been downplayed, as it has been claimed that the League One outfit have not approached the 46-year-old tactician.
Bowyer previously managed Charlton for 157 games before joining Birmingham City in March 2021.
It has also been stated that the Addicks approached Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson, but he turned them down.
