Lingard left Nottingham Forest at the end of last season when his contract with the Midlands club expired.
The attacking midfielder is still waiting to find a new club but has been widely expected to rejoin West Ham this summer.
He has been training with David Moyes’ team and his representatives have been in talks with the Hammers over a short-term contract.
However, it has been claimed, that Wolves are now in the mix to sign the free agent too.
The Molineux outfit have made a late approach to convince Lingard to consider a move to the Black Country in the coming days.
He is scheduled to play in a behind closed doors friendly with West Ham soon and the Hammers are keen to sign him.
It remains to be seen whether Lingard is prepared to consider Wolves as a serious option or decides to pen a contract with West Ham.
