Unai Emery’s side booked European football on the back of an impressive run of form towards the end of last term and will kick off their group stage campaign at Legia Warsaw.

Warsaw’s Austrian manager concedes the fact that Aston Villa are the strongest team in the group and against them, the Polish side will simply be the outsiders.

In spite of that, the aim will be to spring a surprise by following their plan, while counting on their record against such opponents, Runjaic insists.

“We will play against the strongest opponents in the group, we are outsiders”, Runjaic said via Sportowefakty.

“But we have an idea for the game.

“We will respond with ambition and commitment, we will play without the pressure we felt in the qualifiers.”

Defining the Premier League as the “NBA of football” the Legia Warsaw coach added: “We all like watching the Premier League. It’s the NBA of football, the best players in the world play there.

“It will be a clash between David and Goliath, but we can afford a surprise.

“We like matches with such opponents.”

Legia Warsaw booked a place in the group stage of the Europa Conference League by defeating Danish side Midtjylland in the playoff round.
