Sunderland scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday away from home at Bramall Lane with a solid performance.

Daniel Ballard scored in the fifth minute to give the lead to the away side and Jack Clarke scored a brace to finish off the game just around the half-hour mark.

Sheffield Wednesday are sitting at the bottom of the league table on two points and have lost seven of their nine Championship games so far this season.

Bennett stressed that Sunderland hardly had to try and Sheffield Wednesday made it too comfortable for Tony Mowbray’s men.

He insisted that the home side showed little fight despite their current predicament and feels they could have done more during the game.

Bennett said on BBC Radio Newcastle: “It was comfortable for Sunderland; they were in second gear.

“It makes you wonder where Sheffield Wednesday go from here, but from a Sunderland point of view, you can only beat what’s in front of you.

“I was expecting more from Sheffield Wednesday.

“When you are a team at the bottom you expect some fight and we didn’t see that at all.

“It was a canter for Sunderland.”

There are serious question marks over the future of manager Xisco Munoz at Sheffield Wednesday.
