Fixture: Sunderland vs Newcastle United
Competition: FA Cup
Kick-off: 12:45 UK time
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has selected his starting eleven and substitutes to go up against rivals Sunderland in the FA Cup third round this afternoon, at the Stadium of Light.
The Magpies have seen their form falter this season and Howe has come in for an increasing amount of criticism.
He has though had to handle the demands of the Champions League and a squad beset by injuries, amid the expectations raised from last term’s top four finish.
Nevertheless, losing at rivals Sunderland would see fresh pressure heaped onto Howe during a month containing a host of tough fixtures.
For the FA Cup tie this afternoon, Howe goes with Martin Dubravka between the sticks, while at the back he picks a four of Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Fabian Schar and Dan Burn.
In the engine room Newcastle have Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and Joelinton, while Miguel Almiron and Anthony Gordon support Alexander Isak.
Howe can look to his bench if he needs to shake things up and his options include Matt Ritchie and Lewis Miley.
