Sheffield United are poised to send Luke Thomas back to Leicester City to make space for a new loan signing this month, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Thomas joined Sheffield United on loan from Leicester City last summer and has been getting regular game time in the Premier League.

He even started in the last game against Manchester City following a spell out of the team but it seems his time at Bramall Lane is set to come to an end.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has made a key transfer decision regarding Thomas’ immediate future.

It has been claimed that his loan will be cut short and the left-back will be sent back to Leicester.

The Sheffield United manager is out of loan spaces in his squad and needs to cut one of his loanees.

Thomas is the player Wilder has identified as a player he could do without in the latter half of the season.

He needs the loan space, ideally, for a goalkeeper and Leicester’s Danny Ward is believed to be a target.
